Skating Classic

Evgeni Plushenko won Gold at the Campbell’s International Figure Skating Classic Friday night, Oct. 3, at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Ann Patrice McDonough, also skating to Swan Lake, finished third, Jennifer Kirk was fourth, Fumie Suguri fifth and Elena Sokolova sixth.

Plushenko won his eighth straight competition.

Plushenko, the 2003 World Champion, was the only skater among the men to land a quad in his program skated to St. Petersburg. It was the same program that earned Plushenko the Russian, European and World titles last season.
