Plushenko win Gold
at Cup of Russia

Evgeni Plushenko and Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin secured a berth in the ISU Grand Prix Finals by winning Cup of Russia Gold Medals in Moscow.

Plushenko, the No. 1 ranked men’s skater in the world, continued his two-year unbeaten streak with another overwhelming victory at Cup of Russia. Plushenko scored 231.25 points in the new scoring system for the Grand Prix events and won by 20 points over silver medalist Chengijang Li of China.

Plushenko won Trophee Lalique only one week ago and also won Skate Canada earlier in the season in a non-scoring event.

Totmianina and Marinin earned the maximum 12 points with their victory and coupled with their silver medal finish at Trophee Lalique are tied for the lead with one event remaining in the GP series.

Elena Sokolova, the World Silver Medalist, finished ninth.

The Grand Prix Final is scheduled December 12-14 at Colorado Springs, Colorado.
